Access

To work with a batch program, select first a B (Batch)-type program, then select the SSG/Batch option in the context-sensitive menu (or the equivalent button) in the Programs tab of the Object manager.

 

Displayed data

Name

Name of the batch program.

 

Layout code

Layout code of the batch program.

 

Lists

Reports

Alphabetical list of reports assigned to the batch program, with their names and description.

The current report is preceded by an asterisk.

Extended-selection list.

 

Radio buttons

Report kind

Kind of report assigned to the current program: Adelia or Crystal Reports.

These buttons will be dimmed and unavailable. In addition, neither button is checked if no reports are assigned to the program.

 

Important:

You cannot assign more than one kind of report to the same program.
You cannot assign reports of Crystal Reports kind to an ADELIA batch program.

 

Check boxes

Data flow

If this box is checked, the Generate button starts the generation of the program data flow.

This check box is only active when the batch program is an ADELIA-type program, when it has a current report with one variable field at least, and when the user is the owner of this program.

Level 2

If this box is checked, the Generate button starts the generation of the level 2 prototype for the program.

A confirmation message is displayed.

This box is only active for ADELIA batch programs.

Source

ADELIA batch programs

If this box is checked, you can select the language in which the source code will be generated, in the adjoining list box: RPG/400 or C for Windows.

If the type of the current batch program is VADELIA, the list box is dimmed and is not active.

 

All batch programs

If this box is checked, the Generate button opens a dialog box which is used to specify the batch program's generation parameters.

 

Buttons

Hold

This button opens a dialog box enabling the selected programs to be held by the default correction.

This button is only visible in correction environments.

It is only active when one or more programs are selected in the list and the user has a default correction.

 

Create current report

This button opens a dialog box which is used to create the current report of the current batch program.

This report must have the same layout code as the program.

A batch program can only have one current report.

This button is not active when a current report has already been created for this program.

 

Create

This button opens a dialog box which is used to create a new report for the current batch program.

 

Modify

This button opens a dialog box which is used to display or modify the general characteristics of the selected report.

This button is not active when no report is selected in the list.

 

Delete

This button opens a message box which is used to confirm the final deletion of the selected reports.

When the deletion is validated, the list of reports is updated accordingly.

If a report is assigned to several programs, it is not deleted but only de-assigned.

This button is not active when no report is selected in the list.

 

Assign

This button opens a dialog box which is used to assign available reports of the current application area to the current batch program, or to access the list of repository reports.

If a report has not the same visibility as the batch program, it appears in the list but cannot be assigned to this program.

This button is only active when the user is the owner of the batch program.

 

Reminder:

You cannot assign more than one kind of report to the same program.
You cannot assign reports of Crystal Reports kind to an ADELIA batch program.

 

De-assign

This button de-assigns the reports selected in the list from the batch program.

It is only active when one or more reports are selected in the list, and when the user is the owner of the batch program.

 

Layout mgr

For ADELIA batch programs or VADELIA batch programs (with reports of Adelia kind):

This button is used to access the Report Layout Manager for the selected report in order to display, create or modify the layout of the selected report.

 

For VADELIA batch programs (with reports of Crystal Reports kind):

This button is used to access the Crystal Reports Designer. An intermediate dialog box is displayed in order to select the fields to be used in the chosen report.

 

This button is not active when no report is selected in the list. It applies to all reports as follows:

    • simultaneously with reports of Adelia kind,

    • sequentially with reports of Crystal Reports kind.

 

Technical doc.

This button opens the Document Editor which is used to modify, save or refer to the technical documentation of the selected report.

There can be only one technical documentation for the batch program and its current report.

Once the current report has been created, this button alone gives access to the technical documentation of the program.

This button is not active when no report is selected in the list.

 

User doc.

This button opens the Document Editor which is used to modify, save or refer to the user documentation of the selected report.

There can be only one user documentation for the batch program and its current report.

Once the current report has been created, this button alone gives access to the user documentation of the program.

This button is not active when no report is selected in the list.

 

App. areas

This button opens a dialog box displaying the various application areas to which the selected report is attached.

This button is not active when no report is selected in the list.

 

Print

This button opens a dialog box which is used to print the description of the selected reports, as well as the program documentations.

This button is not active when no report is selected in the list.

 

Build
  • If the program template source code does not contain any Q/A (%xxx) instructions, this button is used to generate the program's 4GL source code from the program template assigned to the program.

  • If the program template source code contains Q/A (%xxx) instructions, the Question/Answer programming interface is started.

This button is only active if a program template has been chosen for the program, and the latter is an ADELIA program.

Data flow

This button opens a dialog box which is used to modify the program's data flow.

This button is only active for ADELIA programs.

 

This button opens a dialog box which is used to specify the generation parameters corresponding to the boxes checked.

 

Technical doc.

This button opens the Document Editor which is used to modify, save or refer to the technical documentation of the selected batch program.

There can be only one technical documentation for the batch program and its current report.

This button is not active when the program has a current report.

 

User doc.

This button opens the Document Editor which is used to modify, save or refer to the user documentation of the selected batch program.

There can be only one user documentation for the batch program and its current report.

This button is not active when the program has a current report.

 

4GL Editor

This button gives access to the 4GL source Editor of the program.

 

Print the list

This button prints the list of reports for the batch program.

 

Enter

This button closes the dialog box.
