To delete an object, you must either:

  • Select the Delete option (or button) in the Objects tab or in the object management dialog box.

  • Select the Delete option from the Edit menu.

  • Select the Delete option from the context-sensitive menu of the Repository box of the object, in the 4GL Editor.

Rules for deleting objects

The objects to be deleted are displayed in a list whose deletion can be validated or cancelled.

It is also possible to ask for an individual confirmation of deletion.

Lists

Object(s) to be deleted

List of all the objects to be deleted.

This list is purely descriptive and does not support selections.

The text located above the list describes the type of the objects to be deleted.

Check boxes

Confirm before deleting

Checked

A message box will be displayed before each deletion, for an individual confirmation.

The box is checked by default when the list contains several items, but not when the deletion only applies to one object.

When the Delete button is activated, a text will be displayed under this field to describe the name of the objects being deleted.

At the end of the processing, this text specifies the number of objects actually deleted.

Buttons

Delete (validation)

This button validates the dialog box by performing the following deletion operation for each item of the list:

  1. The name of the item processed is displayed for information.
  2. If the Confirm before deleting box was checked, a message box is displayed to ask whether the deletion of the current object must actually be performed. At this point, it is also possible to cancel, i.e. to stop a deletion process, and to return to the dialog box.
  3. The actual deletion operation is then performed.
In case of failure, an error message is displayed, with the cause of the failure.
Otherwise, the item processed is removed from the list.
  4. At the end of the process, the number of objects deleted is displayed.
If no cancellation was made, the dialog box can be closed.

Cancel

This button closes the dialog box without deleting the items displayed in the list.

Keyboard shortcut: Esc.
