This tool is an add-on for the Adelia Studio translation manager.

Features include:

  • Export a list of the environment's non-validated constants to an Excel file.
This can be the first stage in a translation project. In particular, the utility provides the list of programs that contain constants requiring translation (i.e. the list of programs to which the non-validated constants belong).
    NB.:
you can view the validation status of constants in the constant analysis box's "Status: Validated/Non-validated" context-sensitive menu.

Using this export file (in Excel XLS or Excel 2007 XLSM format), you can:

- Open the windows/layouts associated with the constants in order to:

- take screenshots,

- create associations between constants (from the translation manager).

- Associate a comment with a constant.

- Validate new merges and constants.

  • Import constant validations in the translation manager.

  • Import comments linked with constants in the translation manager.

  • Import error message comments in the translation manager.

The export process creates an Excel file (see Structure of the Excel result file).

Access

To open the translation tool, open an MS-DOS command window, and then run the command GTRADN <Environment name>.

Buttons

Export non-validated constants

This button opens a dialog box that lets you specify the export criteria.

Import constant validations and comments

Clicking this button displays a message prompting you to confirm that you want to import the constant validations and comments. When you have made your choice, a Windows selection box opens, prompting you to select the Microsoft Excel file that contains the constant validations and comments (this file should already have been generated by an earlier export procedure).

To choose a file, select it in the list and then click the Open button.

Clicking Cancel aborts the entire import process and returns you to the main window.

The file selection box used for importing validations and comments initially shows the directory specified in the TEMP environment variable (e.g. c:\winnt\temp) when it is opened. Naturally, it is possible to specify a different directory.

Note: At the end of the import process, a Windows message box informs you whether or not the process was successful. If it failed, you can view a list of errors in the file named <ExcelFileName>.log in the export/import directory.

Comments specified in the Excel file are imported into the environment (ignoring the lines without comments). Constants for which the "Validated" column contains an 'x' or 'X' are validated in the environment (any lines for which the "Validated" column is blank are ignored).

Import message comments

Clicking this button displays a message prompting you to confirm that you want to import the message comments. When you have made your choice, a Windows selection box opens, prompting you to select the Microsoft Excel file that contains the message comments (this file will have been generated by an export from the GTRADD decentralized translation manager).

To choose a file, select it in the list and then click the Open button.

Clicking Cancel aborts the entire import process and returns you to the main window.

The file selection box used for importing the comments initially shows the directory specified in the TEMP environment variable (e.g. c:\winnt\temp) when it is opened. Naturally, it is possible to specify a different directory.

Note: At the end of the import process, a Windows message box informs you whether or not the process was successful. If it failed, you can view a list of errors in the file named <ExcelFileName>.log in the export/import directory.

Check boxes

Excel 2007 .xlsm format
