The administration console enables you to monitor the state of the job manager without starting any local manager.

It is provided by the gsconsole.exe program.

The console starting parameters are the same as the job manager's:

[gsconsole <GTS parameters>]

The interface is displayed as an integrated job manager with a number of specifics, shown below.

Specifics of the administration console:
Selecting job managers

In the console toolbar, it is possible to select a specific job manager or request a global view.

Selecting a manager allows you to view and act locally on the starting state of execution queues:

  • If "All job managers" is selected and the "Print" queue has been locked, the lock notification will be sent to all the managers that have started the queue.

  • If, as in the above screenshot, "PS00JCV" is selected and the "Print" queue has been locked, the lock notification will be sent to the manager working on machine PS00JCV.

The job managers are represented by the following icons:

Global manager (all active managers).

Local manager (one machine).

Invalid local manager.

This icon appears when the manager selected in the console has been stopped or when it is no longer responding.

Stop the job manager

This option appears in the Queues menu and is represented by the icon in the toolbar.

It enables an administrator to stop remotely the selected manager or all active managers in the environment.

Note: a manager "killed" remotely by an administrator will automatically enter a warning in the Windows NT event log.
