RAD stands for Rapid Application Development.

The RAD wizard can be used to:

  • Quickly develop interactive Visual Adelia programs;

  • Set graphic layout standards for these programs.

Developing programs with the RAD wizard involves a number of steps:

  • Creating a program envelope from the OBM.

  • Starting the RAD wizard.

  • Selecting the type of scenario corresponding to the type of logical entities to be handled.

  • Selecting the logical entities and defining joins.

  • Selecting the program's type of graphical representation.

  • Selecting the RAD template that specifies the program's graphical representation.

  • Selecting the logical properties present in the program.

  • Starting the RAD development: generation of layouts and generation of the program's 4GL source code according to the choices made in the RAD wizard.

  • Compiling the program.

Once built, a program can be re-built by the RAD wizard. The answers used in the previous build are reused - if possible - to initialize the RAD wizard's fields.

Important: Rapid Application Development always starts with the initialization of the program's source code and layouts from those in the RAD template. Consequently, if the program is modified after its RAD development, these modifications will be lost for its next RAD development.
